9 November Iqbal Day: ISLAMABAD: In honor of the nation national poet and philosopher, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, federal government on Tuesday declared November 9 to be public holiday.
“The Prime Minister has been pleased to desire that November 9 (Iqbal Day) shall henceforth be observed as public holiday,” stated notification from Prime Minister Office dated November 8, 2022.

“In continuation of the Cabinet Division’s circular No. 10-01/2021-Min-II dated December 17, 2021, it is for general information that the Prime Minister is pleased to restore the public holiday on occasion of Allama Iqbal’s birthday, i.e., November 9, 2021,” the Cabinet Division announced in a notification after this. As result, Wednesday, November 9, 2022, will be recognized nationwide as public holiday.

On 9 November Iqbal Day (a Wednesday), people of Pakistan will commemorate 145th anniversary of birth of renowned poet and philosopher, Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
The renowned poet from East was born on November 9, 1877, into middle-class family in Kashmiri Mohallah, historic neighborhood of Sialkot city with high population density.

Mosques will hold special prayers on this day in support of Pakistan unity, integrity, and prosperity, as well as liberation of all Muslim homelands, including Palestine and occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

In an effort to draw attention to contributions made by great visionary leader of 20th century, number of social, political, and cultural organizations held conferences and seminars throughout liberated territory.

Change of Guard Ceremony

A ceremony to replace the Punjab Rangers as guards was held at Mazar-e-Iqbal in Lahore. The Pakistan Navy contingent, dressed smartly, took over the role of guard. The chief guest for the event was Commodore Sajid Hussain of the Pakistan Navy’s Station Commander, who presented fateha and placed a floral wreath at the mausoleum.

9 November Iqbal Day: In separate remarks on the national poet’s birthday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Dr. Arif Alvi urged the country to commit to building the Pakistan that Allama Muhammad Iqbal had imagined, one marked by political tolerance, peace, and fraternity.

In his message, the President said that we honor Allama Iqbal for having conceived of the idea of a Muslim homeland on the subcontinent, where Muslims can live according to their religious, social, and cultural values, free from the fear and intimidation of the Hindu majority.

9 November Iqbal Day: The birthplace of Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal is Sialkot, located in Punjab, Pakistan. Poets from Pakistan, India, Iran, and Turkey all adore him.
Students of literature from Pakistan, India, and other countries adore Dr. Allama Iqbal as a superb classical author.

Despite being most known for his writing, he has also received praise for being a modern Muslim philosopher. His first collection of poems, Asrar-e-Khudi, was published in Persian in 1915. Other collections of his poems include Rumuz-i-Bekhudi, Payam-i-Mashriq, and Zabur-i-Ajam. Among his most well-known Urdu compositions are Zarb-i Kalim, Bal-i-Jibril, and Bang-i-Dara.

November 9, 1877, is his well-known birthday; it may have been spent on vacation in Pakistan. On January 21, 1938, in the Gregorian calendar, he departed from this life.In every Asian country, Allama Iqbal is revered, as he is considered the ideological forerunner of the state.

Allama Iqbal will always hold a special place in the hearts of the people living on the subcontinent. Iqbal Day is November 9, 2022. There is no denying Allama Iqbal’s significance and reverence as Pakistan’s national poet and the man who gave rise to the country’s identity.
